Hello! Hasn’t the snow been wonderful? I grew up in the South in the US, so I did not get a chance to play with snow much growing up. For that reason I am really glad that my son has the chance to enjoy an occasional snowfall in Tokyo. Today, I would like to tell you some expressions we can use to show how we enjoy snow in the winter. Here they are!

こんにちは！

雪は素晴らしいです！

私はアメリカの南部生まれだから子どもの時はあまり雪で遊べなかったです。

だから、私の息子は東京で雪で遊ぶことができるというのはとっても嬉しいですね。

冬に雪をエンジョイすることを表すための表現を紹介したいと思います。

さあ、読んでみましょう！

Sentence 1: We had a snowball fight this morning.

センテンス１:　私たちは今朝雪合戦をしていました。

Sentence 2: We made a snowman in our backyard.

センテンス２:　 私たちは裏庭で雪だるまを作りました。

Sentence3: We lay down on the snow and made snow angels.

センテンス３：　私たちは雪の上で寝転んで「雪の天使」を作りました。

These are all common activities in the US when it snows. I think that everyone is familiar with snowmen and making snowballs to have “snowball fights.” We make a “snow angel” by lying down in snow and moving our arms up and down to brush away the snow thus making a shape resembling an angel’s wings. Please notice what verbs we use in each sentence. Enjoy the snow before it melts! Something about snow brings out the kid in all of us, doesn’t it?

アメリカで雪が降ったらこういう遊びはよくします。

日本では雪だるまや雪合戦のことはよく知っていると思います。

「雪の天使」に関してですが、雪の上で寝転んで、両腕をバタバタ上と下にすれば、天使の翼みたいな形が作れます。

各文書に使われている動詞に注目してください。

最近の雪が溶ける前にエンジョイしてください！

雪が降ると皆子どもに戻るんじゃないでしょうか？
