Today, we will look at full conversations you might have at a currency exchange window.

こんにちは！

もし、みなさんがまだ前の記事を読んでいないとしたら、

今日は、私たちは、両替の窓口で起こりそうな会話を見ていきます。

Conversation 1

B: No, I’m sorry sir.
　　We only accept American Express traveler’s checks.

会話１

A： ビザのトラベラーズ・チェックは使えますか？

B:　申し訳ございません、お客様。
　　私たちが取り扱うのはアメリカン・エクスプレスだけです。

Conversation 2

B: The exchange rate is 4000 riel to 100 Yen.

会話２

A:　日本円への両替レートはいくらですか？

B:　交換レートは、１００円が４０００リエルです。

　※rielは、カンボジアの通貨です。

Conversation 3

B: Yes. Would you like any other denominations? Fives? Tens?

会話３

A: ２０ドル札でいただけますか？

B: はい、他の単位のお札は必要ですか？５ドル札とか、１０ドルとか？

Hopefully you will not hear the response in Conversation 1,
but there are cases where your traveler’s checks or credit cards are not accepted.

Notice how the response in Conversation 2 uses the verb “is” with the preposition “to.”

Finally, notice that in Conversation 3 you may want to decide
what types of bills to request depending on the cost of things and what you will be buying.

It’s always a good idea to have some money ready for things like taxi rides,
train rides, and phone calls.

願わくは、あなたは、会話１の返答は聞きたくないでしょう。
しかし、あなたのトラベラーズ・チェックが使えないケースはあります。

会話２では、be動詞「is」と前置詞「to」がどのように返答に使われているということに注意してください。

最後に、どんな種類のお札をもらうかということは、物の値段と何を買いたいかということに基づいて決定していく
ということに注意してください。

タクシーや電車に乗ったり、電話をかけるためのお金をもっておくというのは、いい考えです。
