Hello! This weekend I am going to a wedding in Japan. In any country there are customs for weddings, so today I would like to give you some expressions which tell you something about American weddings. Here they are!

こんにちは！

今週末は結婚式に出席します。

結婚式にはその国の習慣が反映されます。

今日はアメリカ風の結婚式の習慣がわかるための
表現を教えたいと思います。

Sentence 1: After they come out of the church throw the rice at them.

センテンス１: 教会から出て来たら、彼らのほうにお米を投げてください。

Sentence 2: I would like to propose a toast…to the bride and groom!

センテンス２: 新郎・新婦に・・・乾杯！

Sentence 3: Congratulations! You two make a beautiful couple.

センテンス3: おめでとうございます！とってもお似合いの二人ですね！

After the wedding service the guests line up outside the church and throw rice from small bags over the bride and groom. In the US, instead of long speeches, many people offer some words before toasting to celebrate the wedding. Sentence 3 is a good sentence to use to congratulate the couple if you have a chance to talk to them. Weddings are an interesting cultural experience and a joyful event in any culture. I hope you have a chance to attend an American wedding someday!

結婚式が終わってから、
出席したお客さんが協会の前で並んで、
ご新郎・新婦にお米を投げます。

アメリカでは長いスピーチより少しのめでたい言葉で乾杯をします。

披露宴でご新郎・新婦さんにお話をかけるチャンスがあったら、
センテンス３を使ったらいいと思います。

結婚式はその国の文化が見られるから
面白いしどの国でも大変嬉しさで溢れるイベントになります。
